While social networking can be a great way to be seen for potential jobs there is another side to social networking that can be detrimental to your candidacy.  If you are thinking of using your profile for personal reasons make sure to employ privacy features to protect yourself and your viability as a job candidate.  You put yourself at risk if you post compromising photos or status updates on your professional account.  Be smart about how your market yourself and realize what goes on in your personal life should be separated from your professional life, online and in the office.
